Assistant of Dental Technician

Description of Education

A vocational course of Assistant of Dental Technician prepares pupils for the profession of an assistant that closely cooperates with dental technicians at workplaces in hospitals, clinics, private laboratories in production and shops of the relevant specialisation. Graduates perform their medical and preventive activities within the scope of their professional competence stipulated by Act No. 96/2004 Coll., under professional supervision.
The teaching language is Czech.

Organisation of Education

Pupils with completed basic education are admitted to the course on the basis of entrance examination. The education is organised in a four-year full-time course with a school-leaving examination - maturita. Part of the course is the practical teaching of subjects of drawing, modelling and making dental prostheses, which students perform in modern dental laboratories of the school under the professional supervision. Pupils participate in a coherent four-week practice course in the third year of their course at selected workplaces of dental laboratories.

Graduate Profile

The education programme provides knowledge and skills that enable the graduate to perform the following tasks and positions:  

• manufacturing all types of dental prostheses and orthodontic appliances
• performing repairs of dental prostheses and orthodontic appliances
• planning individual work procedures in the manufacture of dental prostheses
• processing all major and auxiliary materials in dentistry
• operating devices in a dental laboratory
• working with modern information and communication technology in the particular field
